In this lesson students review the selected poems, the characters, and the unifying themes.Students also reflect on the new learning they gained.

Successful completion of all previous lessons is necessary to begin this lesson.

Lesson 4: Metacognitive journal writing

Activity 1: Whole class discussion focused on each title character and the unifying theme in different poems. Activity 2: Students revisit the poem, "Eleanor Rigby." Characters from each poem are compared and contrasted to the title character. Activity 3: Journal writing: Each student recaps the activities of this unit and reflects on the process and learning gained from the activities.
