In October, 1997, Volusia County Schools received a United States Department of Education "Career Connection to Teaching with Technology" Innovation Challenge Grant. Mainland High School, in Daytona Beach, Florida, served as the co-ordinating hub site for this 5-year grant. Mainland's physics students have had the unique opportunity to participate in the development and implementation of a web-based physics program. From the very first day of school in the Fall of 1997, when they registered for class on a web form, the daily routine for Mainland's physics students started by sitting down in front of one of the sixteen computer-lab stations in the physics lab to reference the "daily agenda" for their course. Five different physics courses are offered throughout Mainland's seven-period day. AP Physics C-Mechanics is offered once a week during an extended 8th period.
